Our history
My grandfather called this house his “carraige which never moved”. This described the spectacular scenery that could be observed from the fantastic balconies, but even better it provided the grandstand for the each and every major event that Palermo had to offer – as most important events start at the Piazza Politeama. These include the “Giro di Sicilia” and the famous Targa Florio, the longest established Rally as well as the superb outdoor concerts.
This is a splendid “Borghese” house, lived in by my family for generations, providing a haven for relatives and friends who would occassionally look for and find, peace, happiness and wise advice.
The house gives a feeling of stability and proper forethought.
The layout is perfect with the living areas made up of three main lounges, nicely divided from the sleeping side, where there are four bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms. The flooring is the traditional “liberty” mosiac, the ceilings are the high vaults emphasizing the different lifestyle once to be had. In an era when these regal properties provided the daily rituals wherein the madame of the house would host friends, vying with them for the ultimate elegance.
It was our intention to revive our house, now improved with the requisite modern comforts; to hear it echo once again with happy voices, to see its much used furniture, legacy of this great house, back in service. It was this that encouraged us to open up to new friends.
Oh! and if you are wondering about the name “Palike”, why not come over and find out for yourselves... we promise to give you a hand!
